Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 November 2026
1. About these terms
1.1 These terms apply to your use of the Tenner app for iPhone, iPad and Android and the related pages on tenner.bet (together: "Tenner").
1.2 Tenner is provided by the operator named on our contact page (https://tenner.bet/contact.html), which also lists its legal form, address, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number and VAT number. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to that operator. Section 19 explains how to contact us.
1.3 When you create your Tenner account, the app asks you to confirm that you agree to these terms. You cannot create an account without confirming this, and we record the version you agreed to and when. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
1.4 You can read, download and save these terms at any time at https://tenner.bet/terms.html. In the app, you can open them from the start screen and, after signing in, from your Profile.
1.5 Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data: https://tenner.bet/privacy.html. It is a separate document and not part of these terms. You can also open it in the app.
1.6 If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, Annex A also applies.
2. Words we use
- Tenner: the service as a whole, meaning the app and the related pages on tenner.bet.
- A Tenner: one question with two or more options on which users make predictions.
- Creator: the user who created a Tenner.
- Participant: a user who joined a Tenner by picking one of its options.
- Pick: the option a participant chose.
- Invite link: the link that gives access to a specific Tenner.
- Friend link: a link that lets other users become your friend on Tenner.
- Content: anything users add to Tenner, such as questions, options, names, usernames and profile pictures.
3. Who can use Tenner
3.1 Tenner has no minimum age, and we do not ask for your age.
3.2 Tenner is for personal, non-commercial use. [TO BE COMPLETED: the countries where Tenner is offered, for example "Tenner is offered to people who live in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom."]
3.3 If we have closed your account because you broke these terms, you may not create a new account without our permission.
4. Your account
4.1 You need an account to create or join Tenners. You sign in with your email address, using either a sign-in link that we send to that address or a password. Google Firebase Authentication handles sign-in for us.
4.2 Give accurate information when you register, such as your name.
4.3 You may have only one account. Your account is personal: do not let anyone else use it, and do not use anyone else's account.
4.4 Anyone with access to your email account can sign in to Tenner as you. Keep your email account and your password secure. If you think someone else has access to your Tenner account, tell us immediately (section 19).
5. How Tenner works
5.1 Tenner lets you make predictions with friends. A creator writes a question, adds the options and sets a deadline. Participants each pick one option. When the outcome is known, the creator records which option won.
5.2 Tenners are not public. Tenner has no public feed and no search function. A Tenner can only be opened through its invite link (section 10).
5.3 You can join a Tenner through its invite link until its deadline. You cannot change your pick after joining. The number of picks per option stays hidden until you have placed your own pick or joining has closed.
5.4 After the deadline, nobody can join. The creator can record the result or cancel the Tenner at any time until 24 hours after the deadline. A Tenner that has no result 24 hours after its deadline expires without a result.
5.5 The creator decides the result. A recorded result or a cancellation cannot be undone. We do not check whether results are correct, and we do not decide disagreements between users about results.
6. No money, no prizes
6.1 Tenner is free and does not involve money. You cannot pay, stake, win or withdraw money in Tenner, and Tenner does not offer prizes or rewards. Picks, results and statistics have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for anything.
6.2 Tenner is not a gambling service, a bookmaker or a prediction market. We do not offer odds, we do not take part in Tenners and we do not decide their outcomes.
6.3 Where the app uses words such as "bet", they refer to a prediction made for fun.
6.4 Do not use Tenner to organise, record or settle bets, games or competitions for money or anything else of value, or to run sweepstakes, giveaways or other promotions.
7. Your content
7.1 You are responsible for the content you add. Only add content you have the right to share. Do not use a photo of another person as your profile picture without their permission.
7.2 You keep the rights you have in your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and transmit your content as far as necessary to provide Tenner and keep it secure. This includes showing your content to the people you share it with and letting the providers that run Tenner for us process it. The licence ends when your content is deleted from Tenner, except for copies we must keep by law or for the reasons set out in the Privacy Policy.
7.3 Who can see your content:
- anyone who opens an invite link, including people who are not signed in, can see the Tenner's question, options and status, the name and profile picture of the person who shared the link, and the profile pictures of the people who joined;
- your friends can see your name, username and profile picture;
- the participants of a Tenner you created can see your name, username and profile picture, and you are told the names of the people who join;
- the other participants of a Tenner you joined can see your profile picture, but not your name or your pick; everyone in a Tenner can see how many people picked each option once they have picked themselves or joining has closed;
- anyone who opens a friend link you shared can see your name and profile picture until the link expires.
Section 4 of our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
7.4 We do not review content before it appears on Tenner. We deal with content that breaks these terms or the law as described in section 9.
8. Rules for using Tenner
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. If you break these rules, we may remove your content and restrict, suspend or close your account (section 9).
8.1 Do not add or share content that:
- (a) is illegal, or encourages or helps anyone to commit a crime;
- (b) sexually exploits or endangers children, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way;
- (c) supports or promotes terrorism or violent extremism;
- (d) is sexually explicit or contains nudity;
- (e) threatens, harasses, bullies, humiliates or degrades anyone, including people who are not on Tenner;
- (f) attacks or demeans people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or a similar characteristic;
- (g) rates or ranks people's looks or bodies;
- (h) dares or pressures anyone to do something dangerous, such as drinking excessively, taking drugs or performing risky stunts, or encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
- (i) reveals private information about someone else without their permission, such as their address, phone number, health or private photos;
- (j) infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- (k) is spam, a scam or advertising, or contains harmful links.
8.2 In addition to section 6.4, do not:
- (a) impersonate any person or organisation, for example through your name, username or profile picture;
- (b) send invites or friend links to people who do not want them, or keep contacting someone who has made clear they do not want contact;
- (c) post invite links or friend links publicly (section 10.3);
- (d) use bots, scripts or other automated means to access Tenner or to collect information about other users;
- (e) interfere with Tenner's operation or security, get around limits or restrictions we have set, or try to access data that is not meant for you;
- (f) knowingly make false reports or misuse the complaints process.
9. Reporting and moderation
9.1 Reporting. If you come across a Tenner or a user that you believe breaks these terms or the law, you can report it in the app: open the menu of the Tenner and tap Report Tenner or Report creator, or open the menu next to a friend and tap Report, choose a reason and add details if you like. You can also report it to us by email at privacy@tenner.bet; anyone can do that, including people without a Tenner account. A report by email helps us most if it includes:
- (a) why you believe the content is illegal or breaks these terms;
- (b) where the content is, for example the invite link, the question or the username;
- (c) your name and email address, unless you are reporting child sexual abuse material, which you can report anonymously; and
- (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete.
We confirm that we have received your report and tell you what we decided. We do not tell the reported user who made the report, unless this is strictly necessary or required by law.
9.2 Removing friends and blocking. You can remove a friend at any time in the app. Only your friends can invite you to Tenners from within the app, so someone you have removed can no longer do that. You can also block another user, from your friends list or from the screen that opens when you open their friend link. Blocking someone also removes them as a friend. While the block is in place, neither of you can add the other as a friend, invite the other to a Tenner from within the app, or join a Tenner the other created. Tenners you already share, and the picks in them, stay as they are. We do not tell the other user that you blocked them. You can see who you blocked, and unblock them, under Blocked users in your Profile. Unblocking does not make you friends again. If another user bothers you, you can also report them to us (section 9.1).
9.3 How we moderate. We aim to review each report within 24 hours. When you enter text in the app, such as your name, your username or the question and options of a Tenner, an automated filter checks it. The filter blocks certain words, such as slurs, hate speech and terms for sexual violence, and invisible characters. If your text contains one of these, it is not saved and the app asks you to change it. We do not use any other automated tools to detect content or to make moderation decisions. Tenner has no public feed and does not rank or recommend content. We make moderation decisions carefully, objectively and in proportion to the problem. We take into account how serious the breach is, whether it has happened before, whether it was intentional, and the rights and interests of everyone involved, including freedom of expression.
9.4 Illegal content. Tenners are only visible to people who have the invite link, so we mainly learn about illegal content through reports. When we become aware of illegal content, we remove it or block access to it without delay. In addition:
- (a) for child sexual exploitation and abuse material, we close the account and report the material to the competent authorities;
- (b) for terrorist content, we close the account and inform the competent authorities where the law requires this;
- (c) for other illegal content, such as threats, hate crimes, fraud or intimate images shared without consent, we take action against the account under section 9.5.
If we become aware of information suggesting a crime that threatens someone's life or safety, we inform the police or other competent authorities.
9.5 What we may do. Depending on how serious a breach is, we may:
- (a) remove content or block access to it;
- (b) restrict features of your account, such as creating Tenners or sending invites;
- (c) suspend your account for a period;
- (d) close your account permanently; and
- (e) inform the competent authorities.
Where reasonable, we warn you first. We act without a warning if the breach is serious, if the law requires immediate action, or if a warning could put someone at risk or harm an investigation.
9.6 Explaining our decisions. If we remove or restrict your content, restrict your use of Tenner, or suspend or close your account, we tell you by email. We tell you:
- (a) what we did and, if it is temporary, for how long;
- (b) the facts and circumstances on which we based the decision, including whether we acted on a report or on our own initiative;
- (c) whether we used automated tools to detect the content or to take the decision;
- (d) which rule in these terms or which law we believe was broken, and why; and
- (e) how you can challenge the decision (section 9.7).
We do not have to do this if we have no way of contacting you, if the content is deceptive commercial spam sent in large volumes, or if the law or an authority does not allow us to inform you.
9.7 Complaints and appeals. If you disagree with a decision we made about your content, your account or a report you made, you can ask us to review it. Email privacy@tenner.bet within six months of the decision, say which decision you mean and explain why you think it is wrong. We will review your request and tell you the outcome and our reasons. If we were wrong, we will reverse the decision as far as possible. You can use the same address to complain if you believe we do not handle reports or illegal content properly. You do not need to use this process before going to court (section 18).
9.8 We may keep removed content and related information for as long as necessary to handle complaints, comply with the law or assist authorities, as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Invite links, friend links and friends
10.1 Every Tenner has an invite link. Anyone who has the link can open the Tenner in the app, see its question and options and who shared the link before signing in, and join it after signing in until the deadline. An invite link works like a key, so share it with care.
10.2 A friend link lets other users become your friend on Tenner. It works for the period shown in the app and can be used by more than one person.
10.3 Only share invite links and friend links with people you want to invite, for example in a private chat. Do not post them in public places such as public social media posts, forums or websites.
10.4 Your friends can see your name, username and profile picture, and can invite you to their Tenners from within the app. You can remove a friend at any time.
11. Notifications and emails
11.1 Tenner shows notifications about activity that concerns you, for example when a friend invites you to a Tenner, when someone accepts your friend link or joins your Tenner, when a deadline is near, and when a Tenner is locked, settled or cancelled. If you allow it on your device, we also send these as push notifications. You can turn push notifications off in your device settings.
11.2 We send the emails you need to use Tenner, such as sign-in links and password reset emails. We may also email you about your account, your reports, our decisions under section 9 and changes to these terms.
11.3 Notifications and reminders may be delayed or may not arrive. The app always shows the current status of a Tenner.
12. Availability and changes to Tenner
12.1 Tenner is a new service and we are still developing it. We may add, change or remove features for valid reasons, such as improving Tenner, fixing problems, preventing misuse, keeping Tenner secure or meeting legal requirements.
12.2 If a change significantly affects how you can use Tenner, we will tell you reasonably in advance. If you do not want to continue, you can delete your account at any time.
12.3 We try to keep Tenner available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of technical problems.
13. Ending this agreement
13.1 You can end this agreement at any time by deleting your account in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or by requesting deletion as described at https://tenner.bet/delete-account.html. If you created or joined a Tenner that has not ended yet, you can delete your account once it has ended. A Tenner ends at the latest 24 hours after its deadline.
13.2 When you delete your account, we close it straight away, sign you out and remove your name, username and sign-in ID from your account record. Shortly afterwards we delete your sign-in account, your profile picture and your in-app notifications, and we delete your friendships, the blocks between you and other users, and your devices' notification tokens. Other people no longer see your name or profile picture. Tenners you created and your picks in other people's Tenners stay part of those Tenners, without your name or picture. Our account deletion page and our Privacy Policy list what we delete and what we keep, and for how long. Deleting your account cannot be undone.
13.3 We may suspend or close your account if:
- (a) you seriously or repeatedly break these terms;
- (b) the law or an authority requires us to; or
- (c) your use of Tenner puts other users, Tenner or us at risk.
Sections 9.5 to 9.7 explain how we do this and how you can challenge our decision.
13.4 We may stop offering Tenner. If we do, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance.
13.5 Sections 16, 18 and 20 continue to apply after this agreement ends.
14. Intellectual property and your licence to use the app
14.1 Tenner, including the app, the website, the design, the name Tenner and the logo, belongs to us or our licensors. You do not acquire any rights in them, other than the right to use Tenner under these terms.
14.2 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Tenner app on devices you own or control, in line with these terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from. This licence ends when this agreement ends.
14.3 You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent the app, or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows this. The app includes open-source software that is provided under its own licence terms.
14.4 If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
15. Other services
15.1 You download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Their terms also apply to downloading the app and to your use of those stores.
15.2 We use other companies to provide Tenner, for example for hosting, for sign-in (Google Firebase Authentication) and for delivering push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service). We remain responsible to you for the parts of Tenner they provide for us. The Privacy Policy lists these providers.
15.3 When you share an invite link or friend link through another app, such as a messaging app, that app's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you share there.
16. Our responsibility for loss or damage
16.1 We provide Tenner with reasonable care and skill. Tenner is free, and we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors.
16.2 If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if both you and we knew it might happen when you accepted these terms.
16.3 We are not responsible for:
- (a) loss or damage that was not foreseeable;
- (b) content that other users add, or what other users do, unless we failed to act on it as these terms or the law require;
- (c) results recorded by creators, or disagreements between users about results;
- (d) delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control; or
- (e) business losses, such as lost profits or business opportunities. Tenner is for personal use only.
16.4 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability:
- (a) for death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- (b) for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- (c) for loss or damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence by us or our management; or
- (d) where the law does not allow this, including under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
17. Changes to these terms
17.1 We may change these terms for the following reasons:
- (a) changes in the law, in decisions of courts or regulators, or in app store requirements;
- (b) changes to Tenner, such as new, changed or removed features;
- (c) to deal with misuse or security risks; or
- (d) to make these terms clearer, without reducing your rights.
17.2 If a change significantly affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and explain what changes. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before the change takes effect. If you continue to use Tenner after that, the new terms apply to you.
17.3 If the law or a security risk requires a change sooner, it may take effect earlier. We will tell you as soon as possible.
17.4 Other changes, such as corrections of typing errors, take effect when we publish them. The date at the top of these terms shows when they were last updated.
18. Governing law and disputes
18.1 These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
18.2 If you have a complaint, contact us first (section 19). We aim to respond within 14 days.
18.3 You can take a dispute about Tenner or these terms to the courts of the country where you live, or to the competent court in the Netherlands. If we take a dispute to court, we can only do so in the courts of the country where you live.
19. Contact us
19.1 You can contact us by email at privacy@tenner.bet. Our postal address and company details are on our contact page (https://tenner.bet/contact.html).
19.2 These contact details are also our single point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act, for users and for the authorities of EU member states, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services. You can contact us in English or Dutch.
20. Other provisions
20.1 If a court decides that part of these terms is invalid, the rest of these terms remains in force.
20.2 If we do not enforce a right immediately, we can still enforce it later.
20.3 We may transfer this agreement to another organisation that takes over Tenner. We will tell you before this happens. Your rights under these terms will not be reduced, and you can delete your account if you do not want to continue.
20.4 You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to anyone else.
20.5 Only you and we have rights under these terms, except Apple as described in Annex A.
Annex A. Additional terms for the iOS app
These additional terms apply if you downloaded the Tenner app from Apple's App Store. If they conflict with the rest of these terms, this annex applies to your use of the iOS app.
A.1 These terms are an agreement between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
A.2 Your licence to use the app is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing may also use the app. Nothing in these terms allows you to use the app in a way that conflicts with those Usage Rules.
A.3 We, not Apple, are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app, as described in these terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation at all to provide maintenance or support for the app.
A.4 We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they have not been effectively excluded. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any) to you. Tenner is free, so no purchase price applies. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
A.5 We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including: (a) product liability claims; (b) claims that the app fails to meet an applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
A.6 If a third party claims that the app, or your possession or use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
A.7 You confirm that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo or that the United States Government has designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (b) you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
A.8 You can send questions, complaints or claims about the app to us using the contact details in section 19, or by phone at [TO BE COMPLETED: phone number; only needed if these terms are entered as a custom licence agreement in App Store Connect, otherwise remove this phrase].
A.9 When you use the app, you must comply with applicable third-party terms, such as the terms of your mobile network provider.
A.10 Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
